My Work Experiance

Monday

Monday started with a talk from the owner about how things worked, how the systems he ran worked, and how to use the programs which he uses to control the centre. I learned how the Cafe Suite program was the control base for all the systems, and how simple it was too use. John showed me some of his self written .bat files which keep things in Surf 'N' Play easy for him.

After the briefing it was time to open the shop, we turnt the screens on the pcs and opened up. After a couple of customers I got used to the Cafe Suite program, which became simple to use. I had to write down the prices payed by customers.

Before lunch, I had to go change up some cash in the local bank for the owner as he was running low on pound coins. After I returned, it was lunch.

After lunch, I sat down behind the till and help control the Cafe Suite, for when customers came in. The more I used it, the more familar I became and by the end of the day, I was confident in using it.

When it was the end of my day, I sat down and played some games before I left. Surf N Play had a good selection of games, but I played a game I was familar with. It was a tiring day.

Tuesday

Tuesday started with another early morning for me. John started by backing up his system on his DVD and then we switched all the pcs on. I had a nice cuppa tea and after switching all the monitors on, i had to start squishing old packaging so he could fit it into a bin (fun!! :D). There was alot of packaging and it started to rain, i got wet (oh no) and had to finish it all indooors. I noticed how much packaging he had from just creating one pc. There was so much and it took up lots of space. After finshing with all that, i sat down behind the counter, and awaited on a customer. Today was much busier than Monday and there was alot more to do on the Cafe Suite Program.

After a easy morning, i got some lunch. Yum a burger. After i came back and played World of Wacraft for 30 minutes while i still was on my lunch break.

As soon as lunch was over, it was time to get behind that counter again. About 1 o'clock the regular members came in and began to play. Soon after the café filled up and was nearly full. There was a problem with the printer, not being able to print a "letter size (US Default)" file, or not charging for the print. John began to find a soultion to the problem, and made sure all print outs were being charged. At the end of the day, the café was full, and at the end of my shift, i logged on for a while and played some of the games avalible on offer at Surf N Play.

Wednesday

Today was the hardest day yet. It was still quite simple, but the procedure had alot of switching between the pcs at speed. Windows updates were in, and the pcs had to be up-to date. We started by unlocking the pcs from the CafeSuite software and then restarting them. The pcs are built with a special card, so john had to tell this card to remember all the actions we make on them (updating windows). After we had updated windows, steam required a update. As simple as running Steam, we updated and was ready to reinstall the CafeSuite software again. When we had finished, we opened up the shop. All morning it was quiet, with a maximum of 5 customers, mostly wanting scanning.

At lunch, i enjoyed a nice burger from the CHIPPY! (woot) and played some World of Warcraft again. As the shop was empty, i sat down and played WoW after my lunch (i dont think john minded :P). At the end of the day, i stayed behind a little longer, and continuted playing World of Warcraft. Today was good fun.

Thursday

Today was the quietest day yet... With a normal morning and lots of cups of teas we opened up and waited for those customers... There wasnt much today today, as John said - thursdays are not a very busy day. We sat around, waiting for those customers. Some person (who i didnt know) turnt up from my school and asked me all the questions, confusing.

At lunch i has another burger from the chippy, yet still John wouldnt take a chip haha. I played some WoW in my lunch, and mainly just chilled out. It wasnt busy at all, all day with a maximum of 15 people turning up.

Today was a nice and easy day!

Friday

Today was hardly busy again. I am begining to wonder how he even makes money (lol joke). It was fun today, after a quiet morning and afew cuppa teas... Lunch came and just chilled with a drink.

After lunch, i played some WoW and talked about WoW and EVE to a customer... I had never even played EVE, so it was kinda confusing.

Me and john then played some BHD against a friend of mine online. He got killed in the back by my friend so he gave her a ALL day voucher :o amazing!
